When most of us think about boat service, we often refer to the operational aspect of our vessels and engines. However, when it comes to boat “care” and safety, an area that is often overlooked deals with the condition of your boat’s dock lines.

When was the last time you closely inspected your trusty dock lines?

Serious damage can occur from using a line that is worn and/or frayed. For the lines to perform their functions, they need to be clean, fully intact and free of damage or wear. If your lines show sign of wear and tear, please replace them immediately!   

TIP: A key for extending the life of your dock lines is to regularly clean and maintain the ones that you have. After an outing or on a regular basis, simply scrub them with a mild detergent, or even soak them in a bucket overnight. Use a mild bristle brush to remove any dirt and/or growth that has occurred.  Rinse thoroughly and then dry the lines in a well-ventilated area.

This simple step will enhance your safety and save you money in the long run!
